What is the Charity Book Project?
Business writer Peter Economy developed the Charity Book Project as a way to use his passion - writing - to give something back, and hopefully to make the world a better place.
His plan? To write a book each year, with a co-author, and donate the proceeds to charity.
In the first year, 2008, he has chosen to work with Jenny Ford and write a book to empower parents to teach their kids the money and business skills they need to be self-sufficient in the modern economy.
Proceeds from the book will go to microfinance charities.
Peter is currently negotiating with publishers to get the best possible deal for the chosen charity, and the more people who have shown interest in the book, the better deal Peter will be able to negotiate.
If you think the project is a good thing, register your interest below. We'll send you an occasional update as the project progresses.
And we'll let you know how Peter did with the publishers - remember, the more people who have registered interest, the better his bargaining position. So tell your friends to register, too!
Thanks for your support. We're just thrilled this is happening.
And you know what? The working title for the book is "Raising Entrepreneurs"!
Of course, it probably won't end up with its working title as its real title, but we're honoured anyway.

Raising Entrepreneurs
Raising Entrepreneurs is an organisation for parents who want to raise their kids to understand money, business, and wealth creation.
In today’s rapidly-changing environment, long term, secure employment has gone the way of chainmail, washboards, and the buggy whip. The only way to be secure in the modern world is to have the knowledge and skills to continually create opportunities of your own. A traditional education, honesty and hard work are simply not enough any more – yet school curriculums are still geared towards producing good employees.
The turning point for me happened when my friend’s oldest daughter came home, aged fourteen, and told me that their careers lesson that day had been an activity – calculating how much tax would be taken from their pay once they became employees. I just flipped! Why aren’t they teaching our kids how to create a business and never have to pay the outrageous rates of tax charged to employees?
Concerned parents are increasingly turning to alternatives to traditional education – home schooling, enrichment programs, wealth creation seminars, work experience, and involvement in family businesses, for example – to teach their kids how to become financially independent.
Raising Entrepreneurs gathers useful resources and information which make this task easier for parents. We provide an opportunity to associate with like-minded parents, exchange tips and stories, and support one another.
I’d love it if you would fill in our survey and tell us the information you would like to see included on this site in the future, so we can make this site as relevant and valuable as possible for you.
If your child has already started a business, please contact us with the details (and a photo if you have one), so we can add them to our soon-to-be-launched Young Entrepreneurs page.
You can do that via our "Contact" page.
Have a look around – we have a blog, articles, downloadable resources, and links, which I hope you will find valuable.
Please jump in, leave comments and suggestions, tell your stories, and help to make this a rich and vibrant community!
Thanks for visiting, and I look forward to hearing your child’s success story.
Regards,
